Making Old New Again, Family Day

April 8, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

| Free

Come celebrate sustainable fashion for all ages at the Portsmouth Historical Society, as we look to the past for inspiration in creating and taking care of our clothing.

Admission is free, pre-registration for workshops is required.

All-Day Activities:
There will be projects using recycled fabrics available all day in the upstairs gallery. Experiment with the materials provided and see what you can make with a variety of no sew inspired projects.

11 am
Mending with Maggie Ruth, Kids Workshop Ages 5+:
With safe plastic needles, Maggie Ruth will guide participants through designing and creating their own patch, which can then be sewn onto a piece of clothing. This is not a drop-off program; children will need an adult present.

1 & 3 pm
Mending with Maggie Ruth, All Ages Workshop:
Learn the historic, practical, and sustainable art of mending. We ask that each participant bring in a piece of clothing from home that they’d like to mend. Please note that this workshop uses sharp needles.
