Is there anything better than singing classic songs in your car at the top of your lungs? Sometimes, it’s exactly what I need to de-stress after a long day at work. Music can be so therapeutic. It can also be loud, awesome, and totally worth rocking out to!
I’m a music fanatic. I love classic 80’s rock, 90’s r&b, pop songs, alternative, and even some country. I still remember what songs I could play while I was pregnant that would make my son move the most. I’m a firm believer that music should be introduced at an early age.
When I was younger, I loved when my parents would play records, or let me borrow their cassette tapes to listen to my walkman.
Man, I’m really dating myself with this post haha!
Do you remember that scene from the movie Stepbrothers, where Adam Scott’s character and his family sing an over the top version of ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’? That’s what inspired this post! I also secretly hope when my son is a little bit older that we’ll sing like that on our family trip!
So, I’ve compiled a list of 20 songs that, in my opinion, are classics. They are songs that every child should be able to dance, sing, or even rock out to in the back seat of your car.
I have so many great memories associated with some of these songs. Singing with my mom in the car on the way to go grocery shopping. My dad blasting classic 80’s music as he painted our house. One of the first CD’s I ever bought: TLC. My best friend (Kristy) and I, singing The Proclaimers at karaoke! Kristy’s mom blaring Bon Jovi in her car as she took us to the mall.
I have attached a link to the Spotify Playlist that I created. Feel free to give it a listen!
I felt it was necessary to begin the list with the exact song that inspired me.
- Guns N’ Roses- Sweet Child O’ Mine
- Queen- Don’t Stop Me Now
- Bon Jovi- Livin’ On A Prayer
- Journey- Don’t Stop Believin’
