Date Night- by LunaChics!

Dressing up and going out on the town for date night is both a treasured and rare activity these days! Obviously it doesn’t happen nearly as much as I would like but when it does happen, I want to look the part. With my wardrobe being a little “mommed out” with yoga pants, comfy tees, and stretchy anything, I headed to a local boutique for an upgrade.

LunaChics, is a fantastic boutique nestled into the beautiful row of shops lining the downtown of Exeter, New Hampshire. As a stylist in the area, I have heard of this boutique many times from my clients. When I was asked to visit the shop and put together some date night looks, I jumped at the chance! LunaChics has a great reputation and it was about time this Portsmouth girl ventured there!

I arrived on a beautiful and sunny fall morning and easily parked (for free, I might add). I was warmly greeted by Ali, a sales associate. When I told her my mission, she set me free in the shop and I went to TOWN. What a blast! Dana, the friendly and charismatic owner, arrived soon after, and was enthusiastic in helping me find outfits, but never overbearing or pushy. LunaChics has a seriously awesome vibe.

My background is in retail management, and specifically in boutiques such as LunaChics, so I am really comfortable around a shop. As I browsed, I thought about what a momma would realistically wear on a date so I broke it down into three distinct occasions: a dressy date, fancy denim for cocktails and dinner, and a super casual, or day date. Finding these outfits was almost too easy, as the buyer of the store clearly has a strong hold on what Seacoast women need and look for in their wardrobes. Sweaters galore, denim all day, and so many cozy yet luxurious items that fit into this Seacoast lifestyle. So, without further ado, here are four looks for these three distinct date nights.

1. Super Casual Date

For this look, I was thinking margaritas and a movie. It’s also perfect for a day date to Boston or Portland if you’re lucky enough to get away. I LOVE this cozy sweater by Lilla P, and the plaid shirt under it (Sanctuary) was so divinely soft! Glorious. This Longchamp bag is next on my “Mommy Wants” list as it’s buttery smooth and the perfect size for just the essentials.

2. Cocktails and Dinner: Look 1

This has to be my favorite look. I love a bare shoulder more than cleavage because of its subtle sexiness. This top is burnout velvet by Free People, and the colors and the vibe of it had me in love! I paired it with some AG skinny denim in a high rise. I love long sparkly earrings and LunaChics has GREAT jewels from brands like Marlyn Schiff, Dogeared, Yochi, and Lulu dk, so I popped a pair of those on. Add a simple clutch (this one is Longchamp) and you’re good to go for dinner and drinks with your love.

3.  Cocktails and Dinner: Look 2

This look is very similar to the last one, but I had to add it because I just LOVED this sleeveless top by Nic and Zoe. I kept on these same jeans (AG) because they were so lovely, soft, and comfortable and I felt super hot in them. Feeling good is the ultimate goal, especially for us mommas. The wrap bracelets added a little touch of rocker chic, and the clutch stayed.

4. A Dressy Night: The LBD

Finding a perfect Little Black Dress is wonderfully satisfying. The tricky thing around these parts is that it can appear almost too dressed up! I loved this versatile one from Last Tango. I opted to keep it real with this denim jacket (this brand is Kut from the Kloth), which had stretch and style and took the dress down a notch. While I paired the dress with my black pumps from Target, knee-high boots would really work, too. This dress was fantastic, with a liner underneath that hugged the body, sort of smoothing it out. Lovely.

I had a wonderful time styling these outfits, and I can’t wait to go back to find more! Thank you to Dana and Ali for a fantastically fun morning spent shopping for a little ME time! Get yourself to LunaChics to try on some of these looks. You won’t regret it and you’ll leave feeling ready for a night out!
