It’s that time of year again; summer is officially ending. Kids are back in school, the sun is setting earlier every day, and jackets and sweatshirts are slowly making their way back into our wardrobes. But before we jump head first into pumpkin and apple flavored everything, use the time we have left to take advantage of family friendly warm weather activities here on the Seacoast.
Go out for ice cream.
The Seacoast offers so many choices for ice cream shops, but in my opinion, you can never go wrong with Lago’s in Rye, NH. They have a huge selection of flavors, and as autumn approaches, they introduce fall flavors like apple pie and blueberry pie…and they are AMAZING!
Visit a Farmers Market
Again, the Seacoast boasts a wide selection of great farmers markets featuring local vendors. My personal favorites are the Exeter Farmers Market and the Portsmouth Farmers Market. The Exeter Farmers Market runs every Thursday from 2:15pm to 6:00pm until October 26th. The Portsmouth Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 8:00am to 1:00pm until November 4th. Make sure to pick up dinosaur donuts for the kids from Figtree Kitchen at either farmers market!
Discover a local brewery
Before we know it, the cold weather will be here! We’ll no longer get to sit outside at our favorite brewery and enjoy a nice cold beer while the kids run around. This activity is my husband’s personal favorite, so I’m sure we’ll make a few more trips before the cold weather sneaks in. So get outside to drink a beer with your friends, play games with your kids, and support local businesses. My favorite local breweries with outdoor space are Throwback Brewery, Pipe Dream Brewing, and of course, Stoneface Brewing.
Spend a few hours at Hampton Beach
Before all the shops and restaurants close up for the season, be sure to sneak away for one last beach trip. Grab a slice of pizza or fried dough, and walk the strip while sipping a refreshing lemonade. You might even be able to find some great end of summer deals on Hampton Beach apparel. I know I can never have enough comfy sweatshirts to wear while hanging out around our fire pit on those cool fall nights!
