Now that the weather is cooperating, it makes it easier to get out and about with your new baby.  Babies bring a whole new set of challenges, but getting out of the house and burning calories just got easier – all of the workouts below require you to B.Y.O.B {bring your own baby!}  Mommy and me workouts are getting more and more popular throughout the Seacoast and I am here to give you the lowdown.  Most of these classes are geared towards babies that are 6 to 8 weeks old to pre-crawling.  Make sure that you have clearance from your doctor to workout before starting any of these!

Yoga

Looking for a yoga class for your whole family?  Bodies in Bloom offers a Family Yoga class on Saturdays.  Bring along your new baby, your spouse, your kids and experience a new way to connect and learn as a family.

If family yoga isn’t your style, check out Bodies In Bloom’s Parent and Baby yoga class.  This class will bring you through a yoga practice while allowing you the space and time to take care of any of your baby’s needs.

ChildLight Yoga offers a Peace Baby Yoga class which focuses more on yoga for your little one.  You will learn techniques to connect with your baby through song and movement.  You will both love the interaction and meeting new friends!

They also offer a Bring Your Baby Yoga class.  You’ll have the peace of mind that your baby is right with you, while still enjoying an hour-long yoga class.  This class is a great way to build strength, gain flexibility and relieve some of the tightness and strain you may feel as a new mom.

If you’ve got a pre-crawling baby and want to learn more about how to strengthen your core safely postpartum, check out Oceanside Physical Therapy’s FREE Mom & Baby Core Class. Before returning to regular exercise, you’ve got to learn how to activate your core muscles again. Every Friday at 10am in Stratham.

Barre

Suite Pilates just began a Mommy and Me Barre class in the new year.  This class runs on Tuesday mornings and is a great way to get a workout in with your baby.  It is open to all levels and will bring you through a full body workout.  For this class you’ll want to bring a baby carrier so you can strap that baby on when you hit the barre!

Stroller Workouts

Fit4Mom is a stroller-based fitness program and there are a few locations in the Portsmouth area to join the fun.  This is a full body workout that allows you to bring your little one, get moving, and meet some moms!
