Have a 4th or 5th Grader? Scope These Deals!

Do you have a 4th grader in your family? A fifth grader? I do! I am here to share some of the benefits that they (and you) can can take advantage of during their 4th grade (and some 5th) school year. With COVID travel restrictions lifting and my own children getting easier to travel with, these benefits are sparking my travel bug for sure.

4th Grader National Parks Pass

Research that shows that at 10 years of age—(the age of most 4th graders) children are at a unique developmental stage in their learning. At this stage, they begin to concretely understand the world around them. Additionally, at 4th grade, they are more receptive to engaging with nature and the environment. The program has a goal for every child to have the opportunity to visit national parks, lands and waters by the time they turn 11. The pass allows up to 3 adults and all children under 16 into different federally owned lands, for free. You print a paper pass at home for your first visit and exchange it for an official pass once you arrive.  Sounds pretty epic to me!

The program is called Every Kid Outdoors. Get it here

Ski NH Snowsports Passport

Local parents – this one is for you! Alas, I’m sort of reluctant to reveal this gem, as its in our backyard – passes for NH downhill and cross county ski/snow resorts. These passes are limited, so act early. Your 4th grader will get one lift ticket to each of the 32 ski areas in the state of NH. You have to create an online account, show proof of grade (like a report card), and pay $59. Its good for both 4th and 5th graders! Get that here. There are so many great spots nearby to teach your kids how to ski.

Ski VT Fifth Grade Passport

VT ski resorts have something similar for 5th graders, see here

Going beyond New England? See this resource for free/reduced price skiing in other states – including Colorado, Maine and Idaho.

Have you heard of any other perks for 4th graders? Or 5th graders? Please share them!
