North Hampton is a beautiful town that’s one of the few to border the Atlantic in New Hampshire. Settled in 1639, this small area of about 14 square miles has a population of around 4,300. Its seaside area is its most historic as it was a fashionable summer resort area in the 19th century. North Hampton has so much character and history packed into a small but gorgeous sport.

Childcare & Schools

There are several childcare options in or near North Hampton, NH. In addition to child care centers, there are options for preschools as well. Uniquely, the local elementary school offers and on-site preschool for children ages 3 to 5, making the adjustment into elementary school all the smoother. 

North Hampton is part of the School Administrative Unit #21 along with Seabrook, Hampton Falls, and South Hampton. Students attend North Hampton School for grades K-8. NHS is a school of about 360 kids with a student:teacher ratio of 10:1. 

Along with students from Hampton, Hampton Falls, South Hampton and Seabrook, North Hampton students then move onto Winnacunnet High School in Hampton for grades 9-12. This top-rated high school, rated 13 in the state by Niche, serves about 1000 students with a student:teacher ratio of 10:1. 

Shops & Restaurants

Even though North Hampton, NH is small with its population of around 4,400, there’s much to do!

Some favorite restaurants:

• Throwback Brewery is a gem! Come for the beer but stay for the outdoor seating, great locally-sourced food and fun events. Yoga at the brewery? Yes! Cribbage? Why, sure! Live music? That, too!
• The Juice Box is tiny but mighty! From lattes to acai bowls, this healthy living spot serves up delicious food and drink for all.
• Seacoast Soups is a favorite for busy parents. Pick up incredible take-home meals and make your life easier and tastier. 
• Ronaldo’s is the perfect spot for a casual Italian or seafood meal. The portions are large (leftovers!!!) and so is their wine list.
• My Brick Oven Pizzeria is the perfect local pizza place. You can order in, takeout or have it delivered. 
• The Copper Lantern is a go-to breakfast and lunch spot. They’ve got great donuts and you can order breakfast all day. 
• Al’s Seafood is a town favorite. With a market serving the freshest seafood available, you can choose to eat your fish in or out!
• The Barley House is also a favorite. There’s great outdoor seating, happy hour and even trivia. 
• The Airfield Cafe is a must with kids. Eat your breakfast or lunch and watch the planes take off! In good weather, sit outside!
• The Beach Plum is right on Ocean Blvd. Grab a lobster roll and stay for some ice cream!
• Donut Love is the place for donuts. Featuring flavors like Maine Blueberry and Chocolate Sea Salt, you really can’t go wrong. 

When it comes to shopping in North Hampton, it’s hard to overlook the LL Bean Outlet store. Get all your outdoor equipment ready and head out on a nearby easy hike with your kiddos. With the gorgeous beach nearby, hit up the local surf shop, Pioneers. Need a moment of zen? Try some yoga at Soleil or Prasada. 

Activities

North Hampton, NH has a great public library. From weekly movies to toddler and baby story times, there’s a lot going on.

During the winter months, parents and their kids adore Luv 2 Play or Junior Gym. It’s critical to have these indoor play places for kids to run and be silly when the weather isn’t great.

Follow North Hampton’s Recreation Department on Facebook and you’ll show many special community events they offer! Old Home Day is a yearly favorite for residents of North Hampton. On the second Saturday of August every year, the community gathers for family-friendly games, live music and good old fashioned fun. There’s always a yearly trip to see the Red Sox, an Egg Scramble at Easter and plenty of rec sports and camps throughout the year.
